Foam Tapes

Strong Bonds. No Fasteners Required.

Foam tape does more than it looks like it should. Beyond simply holding two surfaces together, it fills gaps, absorbs vibration, seals out moisture, and eliminates the need for screws, rivets, or brackets in tight or hard-to-reach spaces. Whether you’re bonding irregular surfaces, mounting signage, or managing wire runs, foam tape is a clean, efficient solution that saves time and simplifies assembly.

The Difference

The foam layer in the tape is meant to conform to uneven or irregular surfaces, fill small gaps, and absorb vibration that would otherwise loosen a bond over time. It’s widely used in industrial, construction, and automotive applications where mechanical fasteners are inconvenient, unsightly, or simply impractical.

The key variables when choosing a foam tape are thickness, density, and adhesive type. A thicker carrier provides more cushioning and gap-filling capacity. A thinner profile delivers a tighter, lower-profile bond with higher immediate tack. Knowing your surface, your load, and your environment will point you to the right option.

What We Carry

1/16" Thickness:

A white closed-cell polyethylene foam tape with a high-performance rubber-resin adhesive on both sides. The 1/16" carrier provides excellent cushioning and vibration dampening, making it a strong choice for applications where surfaces aren't perfectly flat or where some flex in the bond is needed. Conforms well to irregular surfaces and delivers high immediate bond strength right out of the box. Great for bonding plastic extrusions, wire mounts, trim, and signage.

1/32" Thickness:

The same white closed-cell polyethylene foam construction with rubber-resin adhesive, but in a thinner 1/32" profile. Where the SB116W prioritizes cushioning, the SB132W delivers exceptionally high tack and a lower-profile bond—ideal when you need a tight, strong hold without adding bulk. A good fit for wire raceways, trim attachment, and applications requiring a slimmer tape.

Both tapes offer excellent chemical resistance, low compression set, and can be easily die-cut for custom shapes and sizes.

Common Applications

Foam tape is used wherever a fast, reliable bond is needed without mechanical fasteners:

  • Bonding metal and plastic components in industrial assemblies
  • Mounting signage to walls, panels, or vehicles
  • Securing wire raceways and wire mounts
  • Attaching trim and plastic extrusions
  • Filling small gaps between irregular or uneven surfaces
  • Reducing vibration in assemblies and equipment

frequently asked questions

Will foam tape hold up to chemicals?

Yes. Both tapes offer excellent chemical resistance, making them suitable for industrial environments where exposure to solvents, cleaners, or other chemicals is possible.

In many applications, yes. Double sided foam tape is specifically designed to reduce the need for mechanical fasteners in compact or hard-to-reach spaces, simplifying assembly and giving finished products a cleaner look.

Both tapes bond well to a wide range of surfaces, including metal, plastic, glass, and painted surfaces. Their conformable foam carrier makes them especially effective on irregular or slightly textured surfaces where a rigid tape might not make full contact.

Ask yourself two questions: Is my surface uneven? And do I need the tape to absorb any movement or vibration? If the answer to either is yes, go thicker. If you’re bonding two relatively smooth surfaces and just need a clean, strong hold, go thinner.

Double sided foam tape forms a strong, lasting bond—but the permanence depends on the surfaces, the load, and the environment. For most mounting and bonding applications, it’s considered a long-term solution, though removal is possible on some surfaces if needed.

Packaging is not just the final step. It is where quality shows up, products stay protected, and customers form their first real impression. At 4Tapes, we focus on the materials, adhesives, and real world performance that keep operations running smoothly.
